Hand-woven Straw Basket with Hemp Rope Finish 19x12cm for Retro Storage

This hand-woven straw basket combines traditional craftsmanship with a compact, practical size that suits modern storage needs. Measuring 19 cm in length and 12 cm in height, it is ideal for organising small belongings such as keys, jewellery, makeup brushes, or desk accessories. The natural straw material and hemp rope trim give it a pastoral, retro appearance that fits well in cosy interiors, farmhouse-style rooms, or as a countertop catch-all. Made entirely by hand, each basket has a slightly individual character while maintaining a consistent, usable shape.

Features and Construction

The basket is built using time-honoured hand-weaving techniques, with no machinery involved in its formation. This construction method gives the item a distinct texture and visual depth that machine-made alternatives cannot replicate.

Material and Build

Straw is the primary material, chosen for its natural availability and lightweight properties. Hemp rope is added around the upper rim as a finishing touch, reinforcing the edge and contributing a contrasting fibre texture. Both materials are plant-based and biodegradable, making the basket a natural choice for eco-conscious buyers.

Size and Practical Fit

With dimensions of 19 cm by 12 cm, the basket is best suited for storing small, lightweight items. It can sit comfortably on a desk, vanity table, bookshelf, or kitchen counter without taking up excessive space. The open top allows easy access to contents, and the hand-woven sides offer slight flexibility for holding irregular shapes.

Uses and Placement

This basket works well in multiple home settings, providing a tidy yet decorative way to keep everyday items within reach. Its rustic look complements a range of interior styles from country to minimalist Scandinavian.

Event or Professional Use

In retail or hospitality settings, the basket can serve as a display container for small products such as tea bags, sachets, or sample items. Its handmade aesthetic adds a welcoming, artisanal feel to product presentations.

Everyday Home Use

At home, use it to store remote controls, phone chargers, hair accessories, or craft supplies. The basket helps reduce visual clutter on surfaces while keeping essentials organised and easy to find. It is equally suitable for use as a fruit holder for small items like clementines or cherries.

Benefits and Buying Value

Because the basket relies on natural materials and handcrafting, it offers a simple, sustainable storage option without complexity or ongoing costs. Its open weave allows airflow, which can help keep contents fresh.

Reuse and Low Maintenance

Maintenance is straightforward: a gentle dusting or wiping with a dry cloth is usually sufficient. Being fully natural, the basket can be reused indefinitely as long as it stays dry. There are no batteries, electronics, or replaceable parts, so it requires no ongoing expense.

Why Choose This Product

If you value handmade goods with visible craft and natural materials, this basket delivers a functional item without synthetic finishes. Its compact size makes it a versatile addition to any small-space organisation routine, and the two colour options allow you to match it with your existing décor.
