H198 HD Six-Light Infrared Night Vision Car DVR with 2.4 Inch Screen and 24-Hour Parking Monitor
The H198 car dashboard camera combines essential recording functions with extended monitoring capabilities for vehicle security. This DVR offers 1080P high-definition recording alongside 720P and VGA resolution options, all captured in AVI file format for compatibility with various media players. Its automatic power management includes ignition-based activation and shutdown functions, ensuring the recorder operates only when needed. The device's standout feature is the 24-hour parking monitor, which activates video recording when collision impacts are detected while the vehicle is parked, providing continuous security coverage beyond normal driving periods.
Features and Construction
This car DVR incorporates multiple recording and monitoring functions within a compact dashboard-mounted design. The device operates on a specific 5V/1A power requirement that must be strictly observed to prevent damage. Its construction includes essential components for reliable vehicle recording and security applications.
Material and Build
The H198 DVR utilises standard electronic components housed in durable plastic materials suitable for vehicle interior environments. The device includes six infrared lights for night vision capability, enhancing recording quality in low-light conditions. The built-in stereo system captures audio alongside video footage, while the automatic power functions ensure efficient operation that conserves energy when the vehicle is not in use.
Size and Practical Fit
With its 2.4 inch display screen, the DVR provides adequate viewing of recording status and playback functions without obstructing driver visibility. The device's compact dashboard design allows for discreet installation near the vehicle's windshield or rear-view mirror. The power requirements necessitate careful connection using only the provided charging cable or computer USB connection, as mobile phone chargers typically exceed the 5V/1A specification and risk damaging the recorder's internal components.
Uses and Placement
This DVR serves both everyday driving documentation and extended vehicle security applications. Its functions address common recording needs while providing additional protection during unattended periods.
Event or Professional Use
For professional drivers or fleet management applications, the H198 offers continuous loop recording that automatically overwrites older footage when storage reaches capacity. This function ensures uninterrupted recording without manual file management. The device's support for multiple languages including English, Chinese, French, German, Russian, and Japanese makes it suitable for international use or multilingual settings. The time synchronisation feature maintains accurate timestamps on all recorded footage.
Everyday Home Use
For personal vehicle owners, the 24-hour parking monitor provides peace of mind when leaving cars in public spaces, parking lots, or residential areas. The automatic activation upon impact detection captures potential vandalism, minor collisions, or security incidents that might otherwise go unrecorded. The device's compatibility with TF memory cards up to 32GB allows for extended recording periods before requiring file management, though users must ensure they purchase Class 10 or higher speed cards separately for optimal performance.
Benefits and Buying Value
The H198 DVR combines essential recording functions with extended monitoring capabilities at a practical specification level. Its design addresses common vehicle security concerns while maintaining straightforward operation requirements.
Reuse and Low Maintenance
The loop recording function creates a sustainable recording system that requires minimal user intervention once configured. By automatically managing storage space through seamless overwriting of older files, the device eliminates the need for regular manual deletion or archive management. The automatic power functions further reduce maintenance by ensuring the recorder only operates when the vehicle is in use or when the parking monitor detects impacts, conserving both power and recording resources.
Why Choose This Product
This DVR offers specific advantages for users seeking both standard recording functions and extended parking protection. The combination of 1080P recording quality with 24-hour impact-activated monitoring addresses two distinct but complementary security needs. The device's strict 5V/1A power requirement, while necessitating careful setup, ensures compatibility with standard vehicle electrical systems when properly connected. For users requiring evidence collection for insurance purposes or security documentation, the multiple resolution options and automatic functions provide reliable recording across various scenarios without complex configuration.
